  1. Heat a saucepan, add oil and onion, and cook over a medium heat for 5 to 8 minutes until softened. Add mince and cook for 5 minutes, breaking up the mince with a wooden spoon.
  2. Coarsely chop canned tomatoes and add to the pan. Add tomato paste and simmer for 5 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper or chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 or 3 tablespoons water



Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together first seven ingredients (flour through salt). Make two small wells in the mixture. In one, pour in the vinegar. In the other, pour in the vanilla extract. Pour cold water over everything. Stir until moistened and a only a little lumpy.
  3. Pour batter into an 8-inch round cake pan. Bake for 30 or 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre of the cake comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then carefully pry out and finish cooling on a wire rack.
  4. While cake is baking, whisk together 2/3 cup powdered sugar and 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder in small bowl. Add water. Stir to make a thick glaze. When cake is completely cooled, drizzle over cake.

Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoon cayenne powder


Directions
1.Heat 1 cup milk in large saucepan over medium high heat until simmering. Add cocoa powder, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon and cayenne powder, and whisk until cocoa and milk are combined. Add remaining 3 cups milk, stirring to combine. Cook until warm, about 2 minutes. Serve.

Chocolate sauce to drizzle over everything:
Ingredients
1 Tbsp butter
1 Tbsp golden syrup
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 Tbsp corn flour
3 Tbsp cocoa
1/2-1 cup boiling water

Directions
Melt butter and golden syrup together.
Add sugar, vanilla essence, corn flour and cocoa to the butter and syrup mix. Mix together over a medium/low heat.
Add boiling water depending on how thick you want it.

Marshmallows and 2 flakes for decoration!
